Alameda Creek tour April 23

Join the Alameda Creek Alliance for a driving and hiking tour of Alameda Creek this Sunday, April 23rd, beginning at 11 am. Please RSVP if you will attend. We will start by viewing the BART weir in lower Alameda Creek in the flood control channel, and will stop to visit several steelhead trout restoration sites along the way, ending up in Sunol Regional Wilderness for a hike to Little Yosemite.
Total trip time will be 3-5 hours. We will meet in the parking lot at Niles Community Park in Fremont (3rd Street between G and H Streets in Fremont) at 10:45 am. Alternatively, join us at the trailhead to Little Yosemite in Sunol Park at 1 pm. Please bring a lunch and water.
Please let me know if you have a vehicle that can carry 4-5 or more people and are willing to drive it as a carpool vehicle during the tour.
Directions:
From Oakland/Berkeley/S.F. – Take Highway 880 south, take the Alvarado/Niles Road exit in Union City. Turn left (east) on Alvarado/Niles Road and go 3.3 miles. This will become Niles Blvd. after you cross over the railroad tracks. Go 1½ more miles on Niles Road, then turn right on G Street in the Niles District. Go 2 blocks to 3rd Street, turn left on 3rd. Turn right into Niles Community Park. From San Jose – Take Highway 880 north to Mowry Avenue exit. Go east on Mowry about 4 miles until it dead ends at Mission Blvd. Turn left on Mission, go over the creek, then turn left on Niles Blvd. at the light. Go under the railroad tracks, turn right onto Niles, go ¼ mile and turn left on H Street in the Niles District. Go 2 blocks to 3rd Street, turn right on 3rd. Turn left into Niles Community Park.
From Sunol/Pleasanton/Livermore - From Hwy 680 come down Highway 84/Niles Canyon. At the bottom of the Canyon, go straight across Mission Blvd. Go under the railroad tracks, turn right onto Niles, go ¼ mile and turn left on H Street in the Niles District. Go 2 blocks to 3rd Street, turn right on 3rd. Turn left into Niles Community Park. From Fremont BART – walk north to Mowry Blvd. Turn right on Mowry, go east about 1 mile until it dead ends at Mission Blvd. Turn left on Mission, go over the creek, then turn left on Niles Blvd. at the light. Go under the railroad tracks, turn right onto Niles, go ¼ mile and turn left on H Street in the Niles District. Go 2 blocks to 3rd Street, turn right on 3rd. Turn left into Niles Community Park.
