Tuesday March 7 - Pleasanton Kottinger Creek Alert The next step in the Kottinger Creek Restoration Project in Pleasanton is for the Pleasanton City Council to give the go-ahead to send the final plan out to bid. This is a project to restore the portion of Kottinger Creek (a tributary of Arroyo Valle in Pleasanton, which flows into Arroyo de la Laguna, then into Alameda Creek) that flows through Kottinger Community Park. Your help with this is crucial, as a negative decision at this point will kill the project. This item is tentatively scheduled to go before the Pleasanton City Council on Tuesday, March 7, at 7:00 PM, in the Pleasanton City Council Chambers, 200 Old Bernal Avenue. How you can help: Come to the Pleasanton City Council Meeting and bring your friends and neighbors. When asked by a representative of the Friends of Kottinger Creek, stand to show your support for this project. You may also sign a speaker card to voice your support yourself. E-mail your approval and support to members of the Pleasanton City Council at: http://www.ci.pleasanton.ca.us/contactcc.html For more information about the project and the meeting, check the Kottinger Creek web page at http://www.alamedacreek.org/Join%20-%20Volunteer/Kottinger%20Creek/Kottinger%20Creek.htm to confirm the date, as City Council Agendas frequently change. Agendas are also published in the Pleasanton Weekly on the Friday prior to each City Council Meeting.

California Sportfishing Protection Alliance Alert Stop the South Delta Improvement Project Help protect the Delta and its fisheries - over 30 Allied Fishing Groups engaged on multiple fronts this past month publicly voicing their opposition to the South Delta Improvement Project. You can find a summary of those activities and more information on the recent collapse of the Delta ecosystem and fisheries at http://www.fishsniffer.com/steelhead/060201deltaaction.html The CSPA reminds you that democracy is not a spectator sport and urges you to engage the decision makers, including the Department of Water Resources and Department of Fish and game, and the Governor. It is essential if we are to ever restore the estuary and its fisheries. Following the Allied Fishing Groups Advisory, you will find a letter to the Governor. You can use it to help write you own letter and send it both the Governor and the Department of Water Resources and do it today! The public comment period for the SDIP draft Environmental Impact Review/Statement closes on February 7th. CSPA urges you to ask the Governor to stop the SDIP and any additional Delta export projects until the ecology and fisheries of the estuary are restored. …………………………………………………………………………..
