Help With South Bay Salt Pond Restoration July 29 Alameda Creek Alliance volunteers will join Save The Bay and the CA Department of Fish and Game on Saturday, July 29 from 9 am to 12 noon, and help clean up debris and remove non-native plants in preparation for a levee breach this Fall that will restore 600 acres of wetlands on the East Bay Shoreline, near the mouth of Alameda Creek. Learn about plans for the larger breach project, how it's connected to the South Bay Salt Ponds Restoration Project, and how you, your school, your business, and others can get involved! Public Meetings for Livermore Parks Master Plan The Livermore Area Regional Parks District is updating its Master Plan, which sets long term goals and priorities for management of recreational and natural areas in Livermore. The LARPD will be holding three public workshops for community input: July 19 - Trails, Regional Parks and Open Space September 20 - Parks, Special Use and Historic Resource Facilities October 10 - Recreation Programs All workshops are at 7:00 pm at the Robert Livermore Community Center, Cresta Blanca Room, 4444 East Avenue, in Livermore. Alameda County Watershed Forum Meeting August 1 The next Alameda County Watershed Forum meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 1st, from 7 to 9 PM (refreshments and socializing start at 6:30 pm). The Forum will be at County Supervisor Nate Miley's office, 20993 Redwood Court in Castro Valley, (approximately one block from the Castro Valley BART Station). The Forum is an opportunity to meet and strategize with other creek restoration advocates and agency staff in Alameda County. The agenda will include a talk by the Urban Creeks Council on erosion control along creek banks and what homeowners can do about it; the potential for an East Bay creek conference in 2007; updates on the Alameda County creek moratorium and state legislation; and a chance for sharing information on other topics of interest. September 16 Program on the Hetch Hetchy Water Supply System On September 16, the League of Women Voters of the Bay Area will host an educational meeting in San Francisco about the $4.3 billion Hetch Hetchy Water System Improvement Project (which includes infrastructure projects in the Alameda Creek watershed) by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. The program will include discussions on the Bay Area economy and water; an overview of the San Francisco Hetch Hetchy water system and the Water Supply Improvement Program; challenges of retail water agency’s emergency water plans; Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency - keeping the Water System Improvement Program on schedule; and challenges of our water system - promoting water conservation. The event will beheld from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, September 16, at the Marines’ Memorial Club, 609 Sutter Street, in San Francisco ( www.marineclub.com  for more site information), in the Crystal Ballroom.
