Striped bass don’t recognize boundaries—they move freely between the surf and the San Francisco Bay, adjusting constantly to changing conditions. In this presentation, George Revel breaks down how to find and catch these fish by focusing on the fundamentals that actually matter: tides, current, structure, and presentation. Whether standing on an open beach or along the edges of the Bay, success comes from understanding how moving water shapes where fish hold and how they feed.
This talk is built to simplify a complex fishery. Anglers will learn how to read water with confidence, anticipate where fish will be, and choose the right gear and line systems to match conditions. The goal is not just to help you find fish—but to understand the system they live in, so you can approach any striper water with a clear plan and a lot more confidence.

George Revel is the owner of Lost Coast Outfitters in San Francisco and editor at large of California Fly Fisher magazine. A three-time national casting champion and the youngest person ever to earn Master Certified Instructor status with the Federation of Fly Fishers, George has spent his career helping anglers better understand both the mechanics and mindset of fly fishing.
He is particularly known for his work in Northern California’s saltwater and Steelhead fisheries. Through his shop, writing, and teaching, George focuses on making technical concepts approachable—whether guiding beginners or helping experienced anglers refine their craft.
